Synplicity beefs up European operation

File sync and share specialist Synplicity has announced the first of what purports to be a series of European appointments as it appoints Jan Jensen as executive vice president of European sales.

The company, which competes in the same market as DropBox, Box and others, has also opened a cloud storage facility in Frankfurt.

CEO John Huberman told New Statesman Tech that his organisation was more serious about Europe than a great many of the competition. “When did you hear about major wins from some of the others?” he said.

Crowded market

The organisation will have a difficult time building up an operation that takes on the bigger market players. Not only are the likes of DropBox, HighTail and others well established as market leaders but Microsoft‘s OneDrive and Google‘s Docs and Apps are increasingly popular for sharing files and collaborating.

Huberman stressed the compliance his organisation offers, and said there would be further announcements about the European focus in the coming weeks.
