The biggest govtech deals of the fortnight (5/8/19)

This is the latest instalment of an exclusive series analysing the UK’s biggest public sector tech deals. In partnership with the data analysis firm Tussell, we’ve drilled down into the most valuable tenders and awards from the past fortnight. Here’s what we found…

Prior information notices

Transport for London has issued the biggest PINs of the fortnight: a £3m framework for a supplier to provide city simulation technology. According to the notice, the supplier will be tasked with developing “capacity for dynamic project-level simulation, and potentially pilot dynamic simulation-linked infrastructure financing models”. Funding for the project is yet to be established and dependent on external organisations, TfL said.

Tenders

The biggest single tender of the week comes from Leeds City Council, which has vowed to spend up to £21.1m on a full-fibre broadband programme. The project forms part of a nationwide plan to connect local authority owned premises using ultrafast internet connections. Suppliers have until 4 September to bid for the work, which will begin in January and last seven years.

Awards

Softcat has won one of the biggest awards announced last week: an £11m contract to provide NHS Digital with ICT desktop managed services. The contract, according to the notice, provides the means for the “provision of commodity ICT goods for end-user computing”. The contract was awarded in May and will run for three years.
