An NHS procurement agency is preparing to launch a UK-wide framework for digital imaging and diagnostic support services. Estimated to be worth up to £2bn, the framework will allow hospital trusts across the country to buy a range of medical imaging tools from a list of approved suppliers. Imaging is one of the areas of healthcare expected to benefit most from advances in computer vision in the coming years.

Tenders

The biggest tender of the week comes from the Crown Commercial Service, which is launching a £6.5bn framework covering a number of IT services, including software asset management, system installation and end user support. The application process went live last week and is open till 21 June.

Awards

HMRC, the UK’s tax authority, disclosed last week that it has signed two major Microsoft contracts in recent months. The larger of the two is a £105m deal with Softcat to cover Microsoft licences. The second is worth £10m, covers its use of Microsoft cloud service Azure and was managed through a subsidiary of the outsourcing giant Capita, called Trustmarque.
