How Palantir quietly extended its reach through the British state

Since the start of the pandemic, Peter Thiel’s secretive data analysis firm, Palantir, has been invited to work on some of the UK’s most high-profile projects, from the NHS’s response to Covid-19, to tracking the flow of goods across British borders after Brexit.

New Statesman analysis shows the firm has now secured more than £83m of government and NHS deals in the UK. Yet as the company carves out a larger role for itself in Britain’s public sector, the government stands accused of keeping the public in the dark about how it intends to work with Big Tech in the years ahead.
