This is the latest instalment of an exclusive series analysing the UK’s biggest public sector tech deals. In partnership with data analysis firm Tussell, we drill down into the top five most valuable tenders and awards from the previous week, and take stock of which tech firms have won the biggest share of the public sector pie.
Top five tenders
Hull City Council has issued the biggest tender of the week: a £6m deal to procure a new housing management IT system. The technology will support the council’s housing manager in dealing with lettings, repairs, maintenance and improvements, as well as homelessness, housing advice and housing registers.
The tender reveals that one of the council’s key challenges is “a reducing welfare bill resulting in a reduction in income for many Hull residents, and the risks for the Council: as a social landlord around collecting rents; the effect on the existing tenant base and the potential this has to disrupt settled communities”. The supplier will be expected to help the council “make the best use of its resources”.
Prospective suppliers have until 4 January to submit their bids. The contract lasts ten years.
