The week in govtech: the biggest tenders and awards (12/3/19)

This is the latest instalment of an exclusive series analysing the UK’s biggest public sector tech deals. Every week, in partnership with data analysis firm Tussell, we drill down into the most valuable tenders and awards from the last seven days. Here’s what we found this week…

Top five tenders

The NHS has issued a series of tenders worth up to £500m for cloud solutions. The tender notice is light on detail, but reveals the procurement is divided into four lots: solution design and consultancy, infrastructure-as-a-service, platform-as-a-service and software-as-a-service, cloud support services  and end-to-end cloud solutions. Prospective suppliers have until 2 April to apply.

Prior Information Notices

This week’s biggest PIN comes from the Department for Education, which says it is looking for a provider to assess the quality of home learning environment applications, “so that parents can make more informed choices when selecting apps for their children”. Suppliers are invited to apply before 14 March.

Top five awards

Orchard Information Systems has landed one of the biggest deals of the week: an £3.1m contract to serve Leicestershire County Council as a Microsoft Licensing Partner. The contract was inked in February and will last until 2022.
